If I should feel compelled to blame a ‘thing’ for the current state of affairs, it would have to be Biden…just kidding aside. Instead, we have a pathetic little man-child attempting to rule by executive orders, and most are unconstitutional…and there’s no sign of reprieve to the tantrums.
Should I feel compelled to blame someone? It would be, in this particular UPS case, the Teamsters Union. Because…they promoted, and supported the occupant of the White House. You get what you asked for and what you voted against. It shoulda coulda been Harris.
And if it had been Harris, would anything major have been different? That current Dem supporters are blaming Trump for everything reveals either a woeful ignorance of history or a desperate attempt at deflection, a denial of their own dark side.
As a blue collar activist and local D campaign mgr, I fought the neolibs' usurpation of the D party decades ago. They abandoned the majority working class and became corporate lite, helping to make this country and the world safe for megacorporate trickle up. They also ditched the New Deal, including financial regulations, which led to the meltdown of '08. The Ds bailed out the Wall St. vultures. And for the millions who lost jobs, pensions, homes? NOTHING! Same for the Rust Belt, now the center of deaths of despair. But who cares about those losers, right?
Consider also why Dick Cheney endorsed Harris. Since when have the Rs had a problem with narcissistic power mad multimillionaire Robber Barons? More likely Harris could be relied on to keep the neocons who ran Biden's Dept. of State. The ones whose obsession with a rules based unipolar world is no more than an American econ empire enforced by many endless wars. The ones who worked for and were trained by Cheney and PNAC when he was VP. Whereas Trump is unpredictable, unreliable.
We working people are no more than economic cannon fodder sacrificed by the neolibs for the good of the corporations or recruits be means of the economic draft to serve military enforcement of neocon empire.
What will it take to get the D elite to listen? There have been recent populist noises from party hacks like Rahm Emmanuel and James Carville. But their obvious attitude toward us lessers is in the anecdote cited in Les's book and also in Stephanie Kelton's on MMT. Sen. Chuck Schumer in 2016: "For every blue collar Democrat we lose in western Pennsylvania we will pick up two moderate Republicans in the suburbs in Philadelphia and you can repeat that in Ohio and Illinois and Wisconsin." Not only morally reprehensible but politically stupid.
