Good article, Les! Too many people think AI is the best thing since "sliced bread" and haven't thought much about the future problems with a robotized world. And driver-less trucks? Imagine a tractor-trailer with gross weight of 80,000 pounds speeding down the highway and something goes wrong with the computer system or weather conditions and the consequences of not having a human driver behind the wheel making "non-artificial" decisions?

I think it was the Brookings Institue or the Rand Corporation which said about 300,000,000 million jobs would be lost, worldwide once AI goes into full swing. But, that's part of the insatiable desires of capitalism; profit before people, clear and simple, just like the self-service counters at the supermarket and other stores where people have to wait in line to self check out, and sometimes several of those machines are out of order.

Professor Jack Rasmus has written about AI and the eventual job lose from it, and, by the way, is pro-union. Check out his book, 'The Scourge Of Neoliberalism,"US Economic Policy From Reagan To Trump" at jackrasmus.com
